Who We Are

Welcome to www.concordcommunitiesalliance.org, the website and online service of Concord Communities Alliance, a 501(c)(4) social welfare nonprofit organized in California (“we”, “our” or “us”). We respect the privacy of our users and we are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”), which describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use our www.concordcommunitiesalliance.org website (“Website”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information. This Privacy Policy applies to the data collected by us, or those working on our behalf, through the information you enter or from the imported data from authorized and approved sources. It does not apply to data collected through offline means, or from other sites, products, or services not approved by us.

By using or accessing our Website in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies described in this Privacy Policy, and you hereby consent that we may collect, use, and share your information as described herein. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Website.

Please note that as a general rule we do not share information with third parties other than those which directly support our organizing and advocacy activities. We will never sell your information for any reason. 

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect data shown in the comments form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. 

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. 

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. 

Contact Forms

When you subscribe to our email list or send us a message through the website, all information you provide is processed using our MailChimp account. You can view the MailChimp privacy policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/

The only information we require when you subscribe to our email list is the email address at which you wish to receive our emails. All other information is at your discretion to provide. 

The only information we require when you fill out our contact form is the email address at which you would like to receive a response, the name you would like to be called when we respond, and the message you would like to send us. All other information is at your discretion to provide.

Membership Form

When you fill out our Membership Form, all information you provide is processed through Google and stored on Google servers using our CCA Google Account. You can view Google’s privacy policy here: https://policies.google.com/

The only information we require when you fill out the membership form is your email address so we can contact you, your first and last name so we can match your form with your dues payment, whether or not you live in Concord, CA so we can determine if you are a voting or supporting member, whether or not you are comfortable paying membership dues, whether or not you want to receive our newsletter, and whether or not you want to volunteer. All other information is at your discretion to provide. 

Donations

When you submit a donation or annual membership fee, your payment and provided information are processed by PayPal. You can view PayPal’s privacy policy here: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. 

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. 

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID for the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day. 

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. 

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. 

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to help us understand the use of our Website. This service collects the information sent by your browser as part of a web page request, including cookies and your IP address, and their use of it is governed by their privacy policy.

How We Share Your Information

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Any personal information or content that you voluntarily disclose for posting to the CCA Website, such as user content, becomes available to the public, as controlled by any applicable privacy or website customization settings. If you remove information that you posted to the CCA Website, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or if other users have copied or saved that information.

Personal Information

 We will never rent or sell your Personal Information to others, other than as noted below under “Disclosure/Assignment of Your Personal Information”. We may share your Personal Information with third parties for the purpose of providing or improving the Website. If we do this, such third-parties use of your Personal Information will be bound by obligations of confidentiality. We may store Personal Information in locations outside our direct control (for instance, on servers or databases located or co-located with hosting providers). Any Personal Information or content that you voluntarily disclose for posting to the Website becomes available to the public, as controlled by any applicable privacy or website customization settings. To change your privacy settings on the Website, you may visit your account settings page. If you remove information that you posted to the Website, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the Website, or if other users have copied or saved that information.

From time to time, we may run petitions, surveys, or other events or activities (“Events”) on the Website for the purpose of making public disclosure of signatures, endorsements and/or other expressions of support for particular positions and issues. If you provide information in these Events, you give them permission to use it for the purpose of that Event and any other use to which you consent. We cannot control third-parties use of your information. If you do not want your information to be collected by or shared with a third party, you can choose not to participate in these events.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. 

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. 

Your Consent to Our Disclosure/Assignment of Your Personal Information

You consent to our disclosure of your Personal Information and other information to a potential buyer or other successors for the purpose of considering a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which Personal Information held by us about our Website users is among the assets transferred. All personal information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers (or those of our service providers) behind firewalls. We may store, retrieve, access, and transmit your personal information in the US or in other countries. Any payment transactions will be performed using our third-party payment processors, which will use appropriate security procedures.

The safety and security of your information also depend on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. You should not share your password with anyone. You must prevent unauthorized access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately and limiting access to your computer or device and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by other users.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do try to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Information transmitted to us or which we obtain.
